• First, we offer a completely online self-paced course for the busier learners. This course allows a one year access and you can log on at any time. This course walks you through everything you need in order to pass the Mississippi Real Estate exam.

• We also offer students access to a livestream course. You also have access to this option for a year. This allows you to be able to access the in-person classes from the comfort of your own home.

The main difference between a real estate salesperson and a broker lies within their licensing and scope of responsibilities. A real estate broker is licensed to own a firm and may work independently, representing the parties in real estate transactions. A real estate salesperson works underneath a broker.

• There are also more requirements to become a broker. Those are:

• Every person who applies for a Mississippi real estate broker license as a real estate broker shall be age twenty‐one (21) years or over and have his legal domicile in the State of Mississippi at the time he applies.

• • To become a Mississippi Real Estate Broker, an applicant:

• • • shall be subject to the jurisdiction of this state, 

• • • subject to the income tax laws and other excise laws, subject to the road and bridge privilege tax laws.

• • • Shall not be an elector in any other state.

• • • Shall have held a license as an active real estate salesperson for twelve (12) months immediately before making an application for the broker’s examination.

• • • Shall have completed a minimum of one hundred twenty (120) hours of courses in real estate.

Once you pass your Salesperson or Broker’s license, you will be issued a temporary license for one year. Within that year you will have to complete a 30 hour post-licensing course specifically certified by the Mississippi Real Estate Commission.

• • Salesperson Post Licensing Course Objectives:
    • The primary goal of this course is to substantiate for licensees those responsibilities of which they must be fully informed and aware when dealing in a business relationship with each other and the public.

• • • Course Description: This course covers real estate information and issues that are important to the success of a first-year real estate professional. It provides the adult learner with an in-depth knowledge of real estate concepts such as agency, contracts, antitrust issues, agency relationships, prospecting, negotiations, environmental hazards, property condition disclosure, inspections, and time life management.

• • Broker Post Licensing Course Objectives:
    • The primary goal of this course is to substantiate for Broker Licensees those responsibilities of which they must be fully informed and aware when dealing in a business relationship with each other and the public.

As a real estate agent in the state of Mississippi, you will have to complete 16 hours of continuing education every two years.

• You can take this course through RETI. Our Continuing Education classes are offered online self-paced. These classes are $10.00 an hour or $150.00 for all 16 hours.

• • Each individual applicant for renewal of a license issued by the MREC shall, on or before the expiration date of his license, or at a time directed by the commission, submit proof of completion of not less than sixteen (16) clock hours of approved course work to the commission, in addition to any other requirements for renewal. 

• • The sixteen (16) clock hours’ course work requirement shall apply to each two – year license renewal, and hours in excess thereof shall not be accumulated or credited for the purposes of subsequent license renewals.

The Mississippi Real Estate Commission (MREC) administers control over the commercial real estate industry in the State of Mississippi, licensing all real estate brokers and salespersons.

• MREC works to assure that all real estate transactions are performed in a professional and ethical manner. Potential licensees undergo comprehensive testing and are subjected to continuing education requirements.

• The Mississippi Real Estate Commission also monitors real estate commerce taking place between brokers licensed in Mississippi and those in other states.

• MREC’s office is in Jackson, Mississippi.

• All of RETI’s Classes are approved and recommended by the Mississippi Real Estate Commission (MREC).

• You will apply to the Mississippi Real Estate Commission in order to be able to schedule your Mississippi Real Estate License Exam. Once approved, MREC will notify you that you are able to schedule your exam through PSI, which is a testing center.

The exam is made up of two (2) exams.
The first exam you will be taking deals with Mississippi state-specific license law. There are 40 questions. You will need a 75% score to pass.
Once you are finished with this exam, most students will get a drink of water or use the restroom.
When you are ready to take the second exam, the computer will prompt you to get started.
The second exam concentrates on general (basic) real estate concepts that are recognized throughout the real estate world. There are 80 questions. You will need to score 70% to pass.
